Color for Every Skin. A Brand Shoot Story
What does it look like when a beauty brand finally shows up for everyone? It looks like this — a sun-drenched loft, a room full of real people, and product that earns its place on every shade of skin in the frame.
When Diana Senova Cosmetics came to Brand Havan, the brief was clear: build visual content that told the truth about the brand's range. Not a curated selection of shades for a single skin tone, but the full spectrum — the warm terracottas, the cool mauves, the deep bronze foundations that actually match the women reaching for them. That's a brand promise. And a brand promise needs brand imagery to prove it.
The shoot was conceived and directed by Brand Havan Creative Director Jamice Ivie, with a deliberate choice to step away from the sterile perfection of traditional cosmetics advertising. Instead, we brought in a group of real women — friends, family, collaborators — gathered them in a bright open loft space, and let the energy of the room shape the day.
“The Creative Direction
The aesthetic was intentionally warm and social”
think the energy of a friends-and-family pre-launch moment rather than a formal production. White seamless backdrop, natural light from tall warehouse windows, studio strobes dialed in soft. The models wore simple white tanks and black pants, keeping the focus entirely on skin and product. Nothing in the frame competed with what Diana Senova Cosmetics came to say.
some of our concepts was adding the family and friends aspect as applying the makeup. Adding to the concept of friends and family s a social piece.
We focused the product story on two categories: powder formulas and oil-based skin makeup — the Skin Perfecting Foundation being the crown jewel of the lineup. Every casting choice, every shot angle, every styling decision answered one question: does this make the product look like it belongs on this person's skin?
““The goal was never perfection. It was proof that this line was made for every woman in the room.””
The Swatch Shot
One of the most powerful frames of the day was the swatch composition three arms, three distinct skin tones, laid side by side with the full lip and foundation range painted across them. It wasn't just a product shot. It was a visual declaration: here is every shade, on every skin, and it all works.
Lipsticks, liquid liners, and the Skin Perfecting Foundation anchored the hands. The word ART tattooed on one model's forearm became an unplanned detail that made the frame feel lived-in and real — exactly the energy we were after. Beauty that belongs to people who actually live in the world.
Behind the Scenes
The behind-the-scenes moment of our model surrounded by three powder brushes mid-application became one of the shoot's most talked-about frames. Shot against the warm blush backdrop, it captured something that polished advertising rarely shows: the craft of application. The ritual of it. The artistry in the hands that do the work.
For DSC, this was important. The brand isn't just selling a product — it's selling an experience, a standard of formulation, a belief that skin should look like better skin, not like makeup. The brush shot communicates that in a single frame.
The Hero Product
The Skin Perfecting Foundation shot was conceived to be simple and undeniable. Two hands — two different skin tones — holding one bottle together. The product sits at the center of frame, label forward, its silver airless pump architecture reading as elevated without being cold. The pairing of hands wasn't accidental: it's a visual shorthand for inclusion as a core brand value, not a campaign afterthought.
Oil-based, skin-forward formulas tend to read as luxury on camera — they catch light differently than matte finishes. We used that to our advantage. The warm blush background was selected specifically to flatter the foundation's tone range and keep the eye on the product without distraction.
This is what great brand photography does: it builds a world around the product that tells you who it's for, how it makes you feel, and why it's worth your trust — before you've ever read a single word of copy.
“Great brand photography builds a world around the product. It tells you who it’s for before you’ve read a single word.”
At Brand Havan, we approach every brand shoot as a strategic exercise first and a creative one second. The questions we ask before a single frame is captured: What does this brand need to prove? Who is it proving it to? And what is the single visual truth the imagery needs to communicate to earn that audience's trust?
For Diana Senova Cosmetics, the answer was range, realness, and craft. We delivered all three — and had a genuinely great day doing it.
